...................................Prayer...................................
Dear Lord, please bless our
homeschool. Help me guide, and to patiently provide loving
care and instruction to my children.
Dear Blessed Mother Mary, help
me to be a kind, patient and loving mother. A listening
mother, never to busy to hear what they say.
Dear Jesus, touch their hearts
with strength, kindness, love and compassion.
Dear Holy Spirit, continue to
guide them, make them stronger in their faith on their journey to
adulthood.
Dear Guardian Angels, watch
over and protect them always. You do such a good job and I thank
you for it.
Amen.

...Homeschooling
About ten years
ago, I started homeschooling my eldest son, Sean (now 19 yrs. old), for
the simple reason that he asked to be homeschooled. I bought and
read many books on the subject, prayed about it, and though the twins
were just toddlers and demanded a large portion of my time, I decided
that I could do it.
Over the years we
had our ups and downs. Of course, looking back, there are so many
things I would have done differently. My favorite memories are of
the times I read aloud with him cuddled up next to me on the sofa; the
twins playing with their toys on the floor. By the time Quinn was born,
Sean was of high school age and wanted to return to school.
Homeschooling
the younger boys, Cade, Connor, and Quinn, has been a bit different and
much easier. I'm more relaxed and if we don't finish some type of
bookwork today, well, there really is always tomorrow. Also, the
homeschooling community is now quite large. The boys have many
friends; homeschooled, public schooled, private schooled. Local
museums and places of interest now create classes and programs
specifically for homeschoolers.
With God's grace
and guidance, I hope to continue to homeschool as I truly do enjoy
spending time with, and raising, my boys. |
