...Feminism and Abortion:  Misconceptions

Contrary to what seems to be a popular belief amongst today's feminists, the foremothers of the feminist movement were pro-life.  There is also a misconception that the majority of today's anti-abortion leaders are white males.  According to Annie of After Abortion (all the way at the bottom of the Tuesday, April 27, 2004, posting) the numbers are more along the lines of 74% women and 26% men.CatholicGraphics.com Thoughts

Ashli of The S.I.C.L.E. Cell posts this letter (Thursday, April 15, 2004) from Serrin Foster of Feminists for Life, about how abortion was introduced into the reawakening movement of feminism in the 1960's by Betty Friedan.  You can also read Dr. Bernard Nathanson's, one of the founders of NARAL, words on the subject.

I'm always surprised by the number of people, especially women, that do not realize that one can be both a feminist and pro-life.
