Dear Lord,

The simplest joys are truly the best.  Thank You, dear Lord, for all of my many blessings; my family gathered round me, the gifts of sight, sound, taste and smell, the daily pleasures that we all enjoy in Your creation.

...The Simple and oh, so Wonderful Pleasures of Summer

I've been hitting the roadside stands and farmers markets to purchase summer's luscious fruits and vegetables.  Cool, crisp, thin-skinned cucumbers, juicy cantaloupes and peaches, ruby red tomatoes, zucchini and more.  My favorite recipes are simple ones.  Olive oil, crushed garlic, peeled, seeded tomatoes with a little cream and lots of salt and pepper over low carb pasta, thinly sliced cucumbers in mayonnaise and cantaloupe and blueberries with whipped cream to finish off the meal.

The boys have been swimming every day, weather permitting.  I love watching the boys play and swim, the ducks paddling around in the creek; enjoying the cool breezes off the water and the sound of the wind as it dances through the leaves of the old oak trees.

I try to imprint the memories; the sounds, the smells and the wonderful loving feeling of being close to God, nature and my family.
